USERS should be able to enjoy Pagham village hall’s new extension early next year.
Building work is progressing well on the club room which is being added to the busy building on Pagham Road.
The construction of the near-£200,000 project is due to be completed just before Christmas. Fitting-out will take place soon after and it will then be available to hire.
Pagham Parish Council clerk Chris Braby said: “We have to be looking at opening the new room next January.
“It’s going to be very useful for small groups. They will not have to hire the main hall, which can be a bit over-powering for smaller numbers.
“The new room will be self-contained with its own kitchen and toilets, or it can be used in conjunction with the main hall.
“It will give us complete versatility and add to the facilities of the building.”
The clubroom will be able to accommodate 60 people and comes just over 15 years after the main building was opened.
Demand for its space has seen it booked solid for most of the week, said Mr Braby.
He expected the new room to be popular. Some users of the main hall might move into it to join new users.
The extension will be owned by the parish council, but handed over to the hall’s trustees on a 99-year lease to run in keeping with the legal arrangements for the rest of the building.
