MORE than 30 firefighters have extinguished a fire in a house roof in Felpham this afternoon (June 1).
The flames were finally put out at 5.45pm, more than two hours after emergency services were called at 3.27pm.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was still under investigation but some ‘cylinders’ had been removed from the building.
There were no reported injuries.
The fire was mainly in the roof space and a spokeswoman said: “100 per cent of the roof was damaged by fire and the remainder of the property was damaged by heat, smoke and water.”
The home, in New Barn Lane, was a two-storey, semi-detached house. There were 28 firefighters at the scene alone wearing breathing apparatus.
Seven pumps were at the scene as well as an aerial ladder platform.
