AN ANSWER has been demanded about the delay to a planned pedestrian crossing in Aldwick.
The proposed safety measure on Nyetimber Lane has been put back by West Sussex County Council for another two years.
But Aldwick Parish Council’s members, who have campaigned for the crossing, said the setback was unacceptable.
Cllr Michael Warden, the chairman of the amenities committee of the parish council, said: “The county council ought to come and explain to us why this crossing has been pushed back. It’s in their budget.”
The crossing will link the Willowhale Farm estate with Avisford Park recreation ground and its children’s play area on the other side of Nyetimber Lane. It had been moving closer to the top of the county council’s list.
Parish chairman Lillian Richardson said: “The play area has become more popular since it was improved. We do not want to see an accident there and then have something done. We are nice people but we are not going to accept changes we disagree with.”
