THE man killed by a train close to Emsworth Railway Station on Sunday was an 82-year-old man from Emsworth, police have confirmed.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We were called to Emsworth station at 11.05am on Sunday, May 3, following reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Colleagues from Hampshire Constabulary and South Central Ambulance Service also attended, and an 82-year-old man from Emsworth was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and the man’s family have been informed.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Rail services were severely disrupted for several hours, with lengthy delays and cancellations and replacement buses in place.
