Unanimous approval for cinema roof

A MUCH-loved cinema’s roof is set to get some TLC.

Permission for the renewal of the Picturedrome’s main tiled roof, as well as other minor works, was unanimously agreed by members of Arun District Council’s development and control committee.

Planning officer Dan Vick told councillors who met last Wednesday the roof of the cinema in Canada Grove, Bognor Regis, was not in a good state and needed repairing.

“This is a proposal to remove the existing tiles and there is elements there of mix and match were repairs have been done previously,” he said.

“The tile has yet to be approved, the applicant did suggest a tile but the historic building advisory said this would be inappropriate.

“We have put a condition in requiring the exact tile be submitted to us.”
