POLICE have warned drivers to be on their guard after thefts from vans.
The Arun neighbourhood policing team, which covers the Bognor Regis area, issued the advice after recent reports of vehicles, predominantly work vans with tools inside, being broken into at hotel car parks in Fontwell and Lyminster.
Advice is to keep a record of all serial numbers for tools, equipment and satellite navigation systems.
Drivers can also keep a list of tools, together with serial numbers and any identifying marks and register them at www.immobilise.com.
This will help to trace them back if they are recovered.
Once tools have been removed, use notices to state to criminals that no valuable items are stored in the van overnight
Officers have also asked people to be aware and report any suspicious activity to police at the time on 999.
Anyone with any information on vehicle crime should call Sussex Police on 101.
