The vicar of Baghdad to talk of faith at Chichester Cathedral

A VICAR who ministers to hundreds in Iraq will be delivering a lecture next week.

Canon Andrew White, known as the Vicar of Baghdad, will be speaking on Faith under Fire: What the Middle East Conflict Has Taught Me About God. The free lecture takes place on Wednesday at 6.30pm at Chichester Cathedral.

St George’s Church in Baghdad ministers to the congregation in a Biblical style, seeking to meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the people despite being in the midst of a violent conflict. Canon Andrew White is president of the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, a charity which supports his work and his wider role in promoting reconciliation between different ethnic and religious groups.

He is also a vice-president of the Church’s Ministry Amongst Jewish People, and the event is hosted by CMJ in association with the cathedral.
