COMPANIES around Bognor Regis have been invited to express an interest in building and running a new cafe in the town’s park.
As reported, Arun District Council has agreed to a new eaterie being created in Hotham Park.
It is expected the foundations of the long-awaited cafe will be dug close to the park’s boating lake next summer ready for its opening in 2015.
Tenders will soon be invited by the council to design and build the shell of the new facility with ecological and sustainable materials to fit the park’s ethos.
An operator will also be sought to run the business for the thousands of visitors who enjoy the Green Park-standard open space.
Council leader Cllr Gillian Brown said: “Hotham Park has waited a long time to have a permanent cafe.
“This is a fantastic business opportunity for not one, but two, companies and we eagerly await tenders to design and build, and to run the cafe. We hope to see local businesses expressing an interest in the bidding.”
The cafe will open all year with indoor and outdoor seating. It is expected the business will be offered on a long-term lease.
Light refreshments in the park will continue to be served from the Inspire Leisure kiosk on the boating lake next summer. It is hoped a more varied menu will be on offer.
