TAXI fares have been frozen across the Arun district for the coming year.
Councillors agreed to a proposal from taxi firms that charges should remain the same from next month.
This means passengers will again be charged £2.50 plus £4.20 for the first mile and £2.20 for additional miles.
All other elements of the fare structure, such as hirings between midnight and 6am and on Christmas, Boxing and New Year’s Day will also stay unchanged.
The fares will only change if the price of diesel reaches a local average of £1.50 a litre for a month.
If that happens, the initial £2.50 will remain but the fare for the first mile will rise by 10p. That increase will also apply to subsequent miles.
All other charges will be unchanged.
The fare structure was decided by Arun District Council’s licensing and enforcement committee last Friday.
