T’AI chi fans in Bognor Regis have spread some love for Christmas.

The 13 enthusiasts who meet weekly at the Quaker Meeting House have produced 20 shoeboxes of love.

They combined them with eight boxes from Quaker members to produce a bumper total for Operation Christmas Child run by the Christian relief and development organisation Samaritan’s Purse.

The boxes are being collected by the Bognor branch of Shoe Zone until this Sunday.

T’ai chi group leader Shirley Horton said: “It’s the first time we have done anything like this. I’m very pleased with the amount of boxes we collected.”

The group meets in Victoria Drive every Monday morning for gentle exercises.

They have combined them in the past few weeks with collecting shoeboxes to decorate with Christmas wrapping paper and fill with festive gifts.

The presents are suitable for children aged two to 14 who live in poverty around the world.

They include toys, combs, long-lasting sweets, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s festive project.
