Sussex has been hit with a major pollution alert with ‘agricultural smog’ from Europe hitting the county at the same time as a spring heatwave.
According to today’s Sunday Times, the beaches of Sussex and Kent are set for high levels of pollution thanks to the toxic farm chemicals.
It could raise the risk of asthma episodes, heart attacks and strokes in vulnerable people.
Such pollution surges, have been blamed on ‘Saharan dust’ storms, but scientists now believe the dust comes from farms in France, Germany, the Benelux countries and Poland.
