MORE than 75 supporters of Bognor Regis Pier celebrated the first anniversary of a monthly social event.
The Friends of the pier turned out in force for the birthday occasion of their regular coffee morning.
The event took place last Wednesday at the Regis Centre and also featured Bognor Pier Trust directors and members of the Friends’ committee which organises the coffee mornings.
Jan Malpas, the chairman of the Friends, said: “The coffee mornings have gone from strength to strength and have become very popular with our members.
“We enjoyed coffee and cake, together with a short presentation, watched the very popular Bognor Regis Pier montage and we had a raffle which included some fantastic pier photographs.
“A great time was had by everyone.”
There was also an update on the trust’s work towards its £5m Heritage Lottery Fund application and details of the Friends’ programme for the coming year.
The first anniversary was marked by a special membership number draw.
All the 712 members of the Friends were included and the three numbers chosen each won a Marks and Spencer voucher.
The coffee mornings are usually held at 10.30am on the first Wednesday of the month.
