Students learnt a lot from visitor

STUDENTS were inspired by one of those behind the 2012 Olympics.

There was a warm welcome for Sir Keith Mills, an influential entrepreneur and business speaker, when he visited Felpham Community College as part of the Speakers for Schools initiative.

Sir Keith spoke to business, media and ICT students about his career – ranging from initiating loyalty card schemes such as Air Miles and the Nectar card, to working closely with Lord Coe on planning and delivering the Olympic Games in London.

Year 12 Alex Ladbrook said: “It was interesting to hear about Sir Keith Mills’ career and life, especially his leading role in the 2012 Olympic games and Invictus Games for injured service personnel. He is a true inspiration to all students.”

Sir Keith also discussed his latest project, working with Sir Ben Ainsley, the outstanding British sailor, to bring the Americas Cup to the UK.

Fellow Year 12 James Wattis said: “It was great to have a truly inspiring business leader visit our school. It was great to see how through hard work and dedication he built his business empire. It was also brilliant to get a real insight into all the preparation and successful implementation of the last Olympic games.”
