A FELPHAM school has been awarded a special commendation.

Bishop Tufnell C of E Infant School was presented with the Bishops Commendation by the Bishop of Chichester, the Rt Rev Dr Martin Warner.

This award is
for schools which can demonstrate growth in the Christian Distinctiveness in their school community and is given for a five-year period.

Bishop Warner was joined by staff, pupils, friends and governors in recognising how successful the Pennyfields school has been in recent months.

Chair of governors Sue White said: “Bishop Martin told the children a story about fingerprints on a stained glass window at Canterbury Cathedral, which linked into how special and unique each and every one of us is.

“This tied in with the theme of our competition entry, many hands make life work.

“He then presented two pupils with our award, which will be displayed around the school.”

The special guest was then presented with handmade thank-you cards and even a school bear.

Bishop Warner also opened the school’s new prayer garden and blessed its Eco and International Schools flags.
