A VIEW across the South Downs has been captured by pupils at Slindon C of E Primary School.

The creative students were inspired by the work of landscape photographer Sean Lewis for their entry for the Arundel and District Rotary Club Christmas competition for schools.

They had to produce a montage on the theme of The South Downs in Winter.

Headteacher Jane Walters knew about the work of local man Sean.

The teachers showed the spectacular views to their classes. They jointly chose to produce a study of Unfolding Morning - the view from Camp Hill in the South Downs above North Stoke looking towards Arundel Castle.

Ms Walters said: “Sean was surprised and delighted when we told him of the project based on his work.

“We were thrilled that he visited the school and gave us a copy of the chosen photograph to add to our display.”

The competition judges from the Rotary Club were this week visiting the schools which had entered it.

Their results will be announced soon. The prizes will be presented by the Duchess of Norfolk at the Arundel by candlelight and tree lighting ceremony on December 7.
