A TALENTED amateur photographer from Bognor Regis has been short-listed in an international photographic contest.
Rachel Ireland, seven, is among the frontrunners in the My Perspective contest run by the Down’s Syndrome Association.
Her entry called My Shadow wowed the judges who placed it among the 25-strong shortlist.
The winners will be announced today while she is at school.
Her mum, Susan Ireland, said: “Rachel does not realise how well she has done to be shortlisted.
“Her dad and her three siblings are very excited and proud of her achievement.
“She likes to take pictures of lot of different things, often people’s feet.
“She takes photos from lots of different angles. We’ve always been impressed by her eye for a good photo.” My Perspectives is a competition for photographs taken by people with Down’s syndrome. It is has grown in its six years. The latest shortlist includes images from Greece, USA and New Zealand.
Head judge Richard Bailey, a professional photographer, said: “The quality of the images submitted for this year’s competition has been truly outstanding and it has been extremely difficult to narrow down the submissions to just 25.”
The seven judges assess each image.
Their scores are returned to the association to be counted to decide the top three places.
