Proms in the Park returns, much to the delight of gathered crowds

HUNDREDS flocked to a Bognor Regis park as it was filled with music.

Hotham Park was packed on Saturday as music-lovers sat back and enjoyed the Proms in the Park.

The event, organised by Bognor Regis Town Council, was even more poignant this year as it was in remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The evening was also extra-special for Bognor Regis Concert Band’s new musical director, Dave Poste, who fulfilled a dream when the band took to the stage.

Dave picked a lively and varied programme for the concert, which included music from Miss Saigon, Freeworld Fantasy and Disney’s Fantasia.

After a short break it was the turn of the Lancing Brass of the Royal British Legion.

Conducted by David Martin the musicians delighted the crowd with their selection of tunes, which included Hymn to the Fallen, Land of Hope and Glory and a patriotic rendition of Rule Britannia.

The night closed with favourites Jerusalem, Sussex by the Sea and of course the National Anthem.

Event sponsors Simply Delicious were also on hand to provide tasty treats. Many of the audience also enjoyed picnics.
