ELECTIONS will be held next year to fill seven vacancies on Eastergate Parish Council.
The date for the poll has been set by the local returning officer as February 16 after ten parishioners request the vote.
The date was reported to the council’s meeting by its clerk, Gary Sleet.
The need for the elections was caused by a series of resignations during the autumn which left the council unable to legally function.
These left just two councillors.
They were joined last month by four Arun district council members to enable the parish council to again hold meetings and begin to make decisions.
But the district council’s intention was only for its members ‘ presence to be temporary to allow the parish council to get restarted.
