Pictures show crews tackling two fires at building near Middleton-on-Sea

A caravan was left ‘completely destroyed’ after two fires at a building near Middleton-on-Sea on Sunday night (May 3).

Both fires, at an address on B2312 Yapton Road shortly before 8.30pm, were ‘quickly brought under control’, by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus who used two high pressure hose reels. A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two crews from Bognor Regis and two crews from Littlehampton were mobilised to the scene along with the Incident Command Unit from Haywards Heath. Once in attendance the initial crew identified that there were two separate fires on the site, one involving a large pile of rubbish, and a second involving a caravan in close proximity to a barn. The caravan was completely destroyed by fire but only caused minimum damage to the adjacent barn due to the quick firefighting actions undertaken.”
