Nearly 60 volunteers helped to arrange and carry out the distribution of more than 150 boxes to 90 families in the Midhurst and local area. The boxes went to families whose children normally receive a free school meal during term time, and are provided by the Trussell Trust, from their Chichester Foodbank which supports the Midhurst Centre.

Karen Lovett, lunchbox delivery operation organiser at the food bank, said: “Local support for the food bank has been unprecedented throughout the year. Not only are the usual collection points in supermarkets and shops regularly filled, but the support of the young people of Midhurst Rother College has been outstanding.

“Following on from their incredible donations made at Christmas, they have made another very generous donation, this time in lieu of Red Nose Day, thus ensuring that the shelves of the Midhurst Foodbank are well stocked with seasonal and essential supplies for those of our community who will really appreciate them.”

Karen liaises with the schools to ensure that the food bank has enough boxes.

She said: “Midhurst & Petworth Rotary club offered essential, practical help with distribution and their generous support, along with that of the people of Midhurst, also provided each child with an Easter egg. This was a wonderful surprise, judging by the immediate texts of thanks that were received following the deliveries.”
