BOYCIE, Cocoa and Densil the donkeys provided plenty of fun along Bognor Regis seafront.

The willing trio transported dozens of children for short journeys on the promenade as the town council’s summer Funshine days began on Monday.

Ella Bartlett, of Hayling Island Donkeys, said: “It’s been really good today. We’ve been constantly busy. Children have been queuing all the time.”

Among the youngsters who enjoyed themselves riding on Boycie from the bandstand eastwards and back was Dylan Sayer, five, of Bognor.

Dylan’s mum, Zoe Sayer, 23, said he was a fan of donkeys and he relished his time in the saddle.

“Donkeys are good,” he said. “I like bouncing up and down in the saddle as they walk along. Their fur is also nice and soft and they are friendly.”

The Funshine days continued on Tuesday with a skatepark circus by Zaz the Clown. Yesterday saw Punch and Judy shows at the bandstand.

It is Malcolm the Magician’s turn to entertain today from 10am-3pm and tomorrow sees the donkeys return.

The Funshine days will continue for the next three weeks to provide plenty of free family fun.

Next week’s activities are performance and art.
