Bognor BID backs police anti-cycling initiative in town centre
Bognor’s Business Improvement District (BID) has made clear it’s support for a Sussex Police initiative designed to prevent cycling in pedestrian areas like The Arcade and London Road
The Police initiative has been ongoing for several years and includes, among other practices, signs at the entrance to the London Road precinct reminding residents that cycling is not allowed in pedestrianised areas.
In order to get the word out, the BID produced a number of ‘no cycling’ floor stickers and distributed them throughout the town with Police assistance.
Heather Allen, co-ordinator of the BID said: “The BID is always keen to support initiatives that make a visit to Bognor Regis Town Centre a really positive experience and it was great to work with Sussex Police on this information activity to remind people that cycling isn’t allowed on the pedestrianised section of the precinct.”
Cyclists may be issued with a fine or a fixed penalty notice if they cause alarm, annoyance or distress to members of the public. Residents are encouraged to report any incidents to Sussex Police via 101 in a non-emergency or 999 in an emergency. They may also report incidents online at www.sussex.police.uk
