DOUBLE yellow lines are due to be installed in North Bersted to help fast food customers.
The parking ban is due to be brought in at the junction of Oldlands Way and Steyning Way by West Sussex County Council. This is near the McDonald’s drive-through and restaurant which opened earlier this year.
Tony Kershaw, the council’s head of law and governance, said an audit of roads in the area before McDonald’s was given the go-ahead showed a problem with parked cars.
“This identified that parked vehicles near the junction of Oldlands Way and Steyning Way cause difficulties for goods vehicles turning right from Steyning Way into Oldlands Way.
“Large vehicles making this manoeuvre are forced to use both sides of Oldlands Way, causing a risk of collision with traffic leaving the car park of the new restaurant. The proposed waiting restrictions are intended to resolve this issue by keeping the junction clear of parked cars.”
