A CAUSE close to her heart will spur on Daisy Towse in her fundraising efforts.

With so many worthwhile charities, Cancer Research is the one Daisy, of Pagham, has decided to energetically support with two events this month.

Daisy, 21, said: “Cancer Research is a charity very close to me.

“Like a lot of people, I have been affected by it through family members having it.

“I just want to do something to help raise awareness and funds.

“The events are also both active, which I hope will encourage people to get a bit healthier, too.”

The first event, a charity zumbathon, will take place on September 13 and everyone is invited to take part, have some fun and raise vital funds for the cause.

“I chose the zumbathon because it seemed a good way to have some fun and do some exercise.

“It is also quite a popular activity at the moment so hopefully that will get people involved,” said Daisy.

The energetic session will start at 10.30am in the Holy Cross church hall, North Bersted.

It is due to finish two hours later.

Entrance to the event is £10 and £1 for under-12s.

One hundred per cent of the profits will be going to the charity and you can buy tickets on the door.

Daisy will also be tackling another challenge later in the month.

Having taken part in a five and ten-kilometre walk in the past two years, Daisy has decided to push herself even further and take part in the Cancer Research UK Shine Moonlight Walk.

This will see her pull on her walking shoes and cover the 26.2-mile route around London on September 27.

Daisy said: “I decided to do it as I know it will be a big challenge for me. Some friends have signed up as well.

“I have already started training and do it about twice a week to help me build up the distances.

“I am really looking forward to it, but it will be the biggest challenge I have done.

“We will start about 9pm so we should finish about 5am.”
