In addition to our Chestnut Tree House staff, who work very hard, we have a wonderful team of people who volunteer for us.
The volunteers give up some of their free time to help us with all sorts of things that need doing at both the children’s hospice itself and across the county. There is a group of volunteers who help us at our fundraising activities so that we are able to put on large events, such as our Night to Remember midnight walk in Eastbourne.
There are volunteers who support us by coming to Chestnut Tree House to help with reception and administration, cooking and cleaning. There are also volunteers who help at our retail shops.
Next week is Volunteers Week and that there is a volunteers drop-in day at Chestnut Tree House on June 5 from 2.30pm to 6pm, where you can find out more about volunteering opportunities in areas such as catering, administration support, housekeeping, laundry, gardening, maintenance, DIY and event volunteering.
Of, if you have a specific skill you feel we could use, please pop along and tell us!
I recently met up with our Maintenance Officer who was busy checking the Chestnut Tree House vehicles. We have a growing number of different vehicles now, many of them wheelchair-accessible and require regular cleaning and checking – it would be wonderful if we could find a special volunteer to assist him with these tasks, so if anyone reading this is interested in volunteering for this role, please do contact our Voluntary Services Manager Sophie Rantzau on 01903 706314 or email Sophie.Rantzau@stbh.org.uk
Can I take this opportunity to thank every one of our volunteers who help us in so many ways – Chestnut Tree House would not be the success it is without you all.
Chestnut Tree House, in Dover Lane, Arundel, cares for over 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions.
