Nicky’s charity day is success

PUB worker Nicky Spencer let her fundraising day in Eastergate go to her head.

She said: “I went a little mad and had ‘Wilkes’ written in the back of my head as I managed to raise £1,137.15 just for my haircut.”

That sponsorship helped Nicky’s event at The Wilkes Head for St Wilfrid’s Hospice raise more than £5,000 on Saturday.

“The fun day went extremely well,” she said. “The support I had was overwhelming.

“So many people turned up you could hardly move. I’m so happy how everything has turned out I couldn’t have wished for a better day and I’m chuffed to bits.”
