Arun District Council announced in a statement last Wednesday that the ‘long-awaited’ building would be craned into place on Tuesday (October 2), with the seaward half of the Esplanade closed and a one-way stop-go traffic flow in operation.

It anticipates the facility to be open during October 12.

Tarmac around the building is to be re-laid on Monday, which may also see the promenade shut temporarily.

Arun District Council announced in July that the installation of the toilets was postponed ‘due to a manufacturing delay encountered by the contracted supplier’, with temporary toilets installed on August 3.

The temporary block was to be disconnected on Monday and the council has said the public will be signed to use toilets in the Regis Centre car park until the new facilities are opened.
