A NEW principal will take on the aim of putting a Bognor Regis school among the best in the country.
Mike Garlick has been appointed to take charge of The Regis School next Easter.
Current principal David Jones said: “It’s do-able to get to the outstanding grade of Ofsted. The bar has been raised by Ofsted in recent years.
“They have made a lot of changes and the criteria get tougher pretty much every year. But becoming outstanding has to be the key objective for the school.”
It will be one for Mr Garlick to achieve. Mr Jones is retiring from The Regis School after some seven years.
“Mike will be very keen to build on the latest Ofsted report and develop the school to that position of being outstanding,” he said.
Mr Jones said 23 applicants from around the country wanted to replace him when United Learning advertised the impending vacancy at the academy.
“They were very strong applicants with a lot of experience,” he said. Mr Garlick is head of a secondary school in Nuneaton.
