New clerk takes the council’s helm

A NEW face will soon be seen in Yapton.

Andrew Gardiner will take up his position as clerk and chief financial officers of Yapton Parish Council on Monday.

Employed in a part-time capacity, Andrew has succeeded David Tansley, who retired after 34 years in the role.

Working closely with the parish council, the clerk’s role is to deliver and manage parish facilities and services, implementing the council’s policies and complying as necessary with government legislation.

Mr Gardiner will also take over as editor of Yapton News, the parish magazine, which is published bi-monthly and delivered free of charge to households in the village.

To contact the clerk after September 15 email or telephone 01243 859141.

A new office sited above the club room at the rear of Yapton and Ford Village Hall will also open from Monday. It will be open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Messages will be acknowledged and dealt with as soon as practicable.
