BRITISH artists and the great war will be the topics of conversation in Slindon.
David Boyd Haycock, who grew up in the village, is a well-known author and historian and he will be presenting his talk entitled Recording and Remembering – British Artists and The Great War next month.
His highly-acclaimed book A Crisis of Brilliance about five well known early 20th-century British artists – Paul Nash, Stanley Spencer, Dora Carrington, Richard Nevinson and Mark Gertler – formed the basis of a recent exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery.
Expanding on this material, his illustrated talk on November 9 at St Mary’s Church, Slindon, will highlight the impact of the first world war on these and other artists of the time.
Tickets are available from John Barrett on 01243 814693 or Nancy Brinton on 01243 814693.
The informative talk starts at 7.30pm.
