LINKS between a Felpham school and universities are going from strength to strength.
Several recent events have seen the relationships between Felpham Community College and local universities cemented – and the students have had a ball too.
The college’s careers and work experience coordinator Gill Woodman said: “Our links with the local universities get stronger each academic year.
“We try to give our students as many opportunities as possible to help them make their educational choices and fulfil their potential.”
A small cohort of targeted Year 10 boys took part in the first FLARE Conference at the University of Chichester.
The enterprise event just for boys, saw students work in teams to create a logo, write a press release and design a story board to promote handball in schools.
Bonds continued to be forged when a group of Year 12 business studies students showed their business acumen when they visited the University of Sussex to take part in the first round of a business simulation game.
This involved students picking a product and trading, virtually, with it.
Last month both Year 10 and 12 students again visited the University of Sussex.
More than 40 Year 10s were given the opportunity to attend three mini-lectures including engineering and informatics, physics and media while Year 12s attended an event which focused identifying the right courses and the university for them.
