A CASH injection of £150,000 for sport in the Bognor Regis area has been marked with the scoring of goals.
Celebrations took place on the astro-turf pitch at the Arun Leisure Centre in Felpham on Monday after clubs learned they would soon have a brand new all-weather 3G pitch to play on.
Felpham Colts held a free coaching session at the existing pitch on Monday to mark the occasion. Arun’s cabinet member for environmental services Paul Dendle said: “This is fantastic news for sports enthusiasts in the Arun district.
“The new 3G pitch will not only ensure that a quality facility is available for local football clubs to use, it will open up the facility to other sports teams.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Felpham Community College, our local football and rugby clubs and the University of Chichester who all supplied letters of support to accompany our funding application.”
The Olympic legacy funding from Sport England will be used to replace the existing sand-based pitch, which is nearly 20-years-old and without the funding would have had to close.
