The day dawned damp but gave way to sunshine for the annual spring show. Entries were slightly down on last year owing to the wet and late spring season, however, exhibits flowed in and made a lovely display in the village hall. There were new entrants too and the Brownies and Guides exhibited some beautiful princess crowns with the impending royal wedding in mind.

The men only cookery produced a number of delicious coffee cakes but was won by Nigel Selby who also took the best in cookery award.

The Lenton Perpetual Challenge Cup for best collection of narcissi/daffodils was awarded to Cynthia Portus, who also took home the Manvilles Field Family Cup for Best Camellias.

The Cheals P.C.C. for highest total points in Shrub Classes was won by Edward Braham.
