Homes ban is backed

MEMBERS of Bognor Regis Civic Society have repeated their backing for a ban on large housing schemes.

A vote repeating the group’s stance of a ban in the area until the flooding problems are solved to the satisfaction of insurers was made by some 25 members at Friday’s meeting.

Civic society deputy chairman Hugh Coster said water displaced by 2,000 homes planned for Barnham would affect Bognor.

“Water from them is going to be coming here because we are downstream from that area, which is partly marshland, and will flow into the rifes.” The Villages Action Group report backed that view.
