Home-Start Arun receives a national quality award

VOLUNTEERS at a family help service for the Bognor Regis area have achieved national recognition.

The helpers and staff at Home-Start Arun have received a new certificate of quality assurance accredited by Home-Start UK and endorsed by the Charity Commission.

Home-Start Arun is a charity that supports families across Arun who are experiencing difficulties. They recruit and train volunteers to help parents, with at least one child under five in their own homes.

Bridget Richardson, the scheme manager of Home-Start Arun, said: “The Home-Start Arun team is passionate about providing families with excellent support.

“So, we’re delighted to receive this award that acknowledges the high quality of our work and practices. For us, quality is not only what we put into
our service. It is what Home-Start families and children get out of it.”

The Charity Commission endorses only quality systems that meet its challenging benchmark for comprehensive, robust and objective assessments of how charities are run.

Endorsed quality systems encourage compliance and accountability. They test the key aspects of a charity’s governance most likely to produce a well-run, accountable and sustainable organisation.

Charity Commission chief executive Sam Younger said: “Home-Start Arun has had to pass a challenging test to be able to demonstrate high standards of operation and accountability.

“We are always delighted when a charity is awarded a quality mark from one of the quality assessments we have endorsed.

“This endorsed standards award is an important way for the charity to give confidence in how it is being run and in the services it provides.”
