Helpful staff at station are railway stars

STAFF at Barnham station have been named among the region’s Stars and
Train Tsars.

They clinched the award for the best large station on the Southern network in this year’s competition.

The judges were impressed by the personable and warm welcome of all the employees there. In particular, platform worker Pat Duffy had his praises sung by his colleagues.

The citation said: “This is a tidy and extremely well-maintained station, including what the judges thought were the cleanest toilets on the Southern network.”

Passengers approached the judges on their visit to praise the staff and station.

Southern’s operations director, David Scorey, said: “These awards recognise those who show consistent and on-going dedication to provide excellent customer service and facilities.”

The station received £1,000 to spend on something to benefit customers as well as a cash prize for the staff.
