Flooding work is carrying on in Bersted

STUDIES to find out the causes of flooding in North Bersted are continuing.

Bersted Parish Council chairman Cllr Patrick Hastings told the annual electors’ meeting several locations had been identified as needing remedial work.

“Some remedial work has been done and some is quite difficult because it is on private land and raises all sorts of legal and practical problems.

“But we are still working on it and working on it in the company of Arun and West Sussex councils.

Meetings chaired by MP Nick Gibb were being held about the subject, Cllr Hastings said at Tuesday’s meeting.

“We must also recognise the efforts of parishioners who have taken part in tracing waterways in the parish and the sources of flooding,” he added.

Areas of the parish were badly flooded in 2012. Many had also suffered previously.
