Firefighters called to capture kestrel in Bognor

FIREFIGHTERS faced an unusual challenge today (Saturday, October 19) when they were called to help capture a kestrel.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue’s technical rescue team was called by police to the Pets at Home shop, in Bognor Regis, shortly after 2.30pm.

The hand-reared bird was loose in the store and flying near the roof.

Firefighters used RSPCA nets to capture the bird and return it to its owner.

They stood down at around 4.20pm.
