Final hours of murdered Bognor Regis man revealed

Detectives are continuing their hunt for the killer of a Bognor Regis man.

The search for the murderer of Marek Pudlowski has entered its second week after he was found dead on the town's seafront.

Police have released CCTV footage of Mr Pudlowski in his final hours in the hope it will prompt more witnesses to come forward.

It shows him at a local bank in Bognor the morning he died. He appears to be in discomfort and pain and police believe he had already been attacked.

They have combined the footage with an appeal by Mr Pudlowski's daughter, Agniezka Pudlowski, asking for information about her father's death.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Johns, from the Sussex Police major crime branch, is leading Operation Langton to bring the killer to justice.

He said: "We hope that by releasing the CCTV footage and the appeal it will provide new lines of inquiry and someone will come forward with the vital information that we need.

"As well as releasing it to the general public, the footage will also be shown at drop-in centres which are frequented by the Eastern European community.

"Agniezka has made the appeal in both English and Polish so we can target as many people as possible."

Polish man Mr Pudlowski, 51, of Bassett Road, was found on a bench in Waterloo Square on the afternoon of August 3 by a member of the public.

Although an exact cause of death has yet to be established, he had suffered serious bruising to his upper body and police are treating the death as murder.

His family flew from Poland to England on August 10 to visit the scene, as reported in the Observer. Ms Pudlowski recorded her appeal for witnesses and information at the time.

The same day saw police and police community support officers hand out leaflets on Waterloo Square and speak to dozens of members of the public exactly one week after Mr Pudlowski was attacked.

These had been translated into Polish and Russian in a bid to engage with the local community.

Anyone with information about Mr Pudlowski is asked to contact police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Langton.
