STUDENTS have taken over the air waves in Felpham.
Voices from Felpham Community College can be heard loud and clear after the school launched its very own podcast network Felpham FM.
Always keen to use new technology, the Year 12 journalism students wanted to find a new way of reaching the whole school community.
Dale Manning, curriculum leader for media, said: “The sixth form students have worked extremely hard to get ready for the launch.
“Each show you hear belongs to them, Felpham FM is very much a podcast network run by the students.
“It has been a brilliant, even if slightly stressful, experience and I could not be prouder of everything they have accomplished.
“Podcasts are quickly becoming a very popular medium and we hope that this network allows for our school community to grow even closer than it is now.”
Under the tag line ‘college news is about to get a whole lot louder’ the students will be releasing five weekly shows covering a whole host of topics.
Each week will see the release of listen up – the weekly update on everything Felpham Community College related – as well as What’s New? – a lighthearted overview of the local, national and world news.
There will also be the big question – a weekly conversation about a range of different questions and topics. It is also hoped Music Mania an audio profile of an array of artists combined with the latest album reviews, will prove a hit.
For those who love the big screen, there will be Film Reel.
The students will also be producing daily blog posts.
Head teacher Mark Anstiss said: “My thanks go to Mr Manning for getting this fantastic initiative off the ground.
“Our students have worked really hard and they should be proud that Felpham FM is now up and running producing new exciting material.”
