Felpham students go nuts for charity week

Students at Felpham Community College have joined forces with staff and parents to raise funds for charity.

The Bognor based school recent held its charity week fundraising event.

Charity week is an annual event in the Felpham Community College calendar which both staff and students look forward to every year.

Held the week before February half term, charity week is a programme of events is organised by the students and co-ordinated by the sixth form charity committee.

For 2017, the charities chosen were Cancer Research UK, Help for Heroes and Chestnut Tree House.

The week long event involves students in all year groups as well as staff, governors, parents and the local community.

Activities include the hugely popular ‘Felpham’s Got Talent’, the very chaotic sponsored dog walk, sponge throws at staff and sporting events such as dodgeball football and swimming.

Break and lunch times are also busy with budding young entrepreneurs out selling various edible and homemade goods.

Mark Anstiss, headteacher, said: “Charity week has been in the school diary for nearly 30 years.

“Every year we run a brilliant and action packed programme of activities and it is great to see everyone getting involved.

“We run events for charity throughout the academic year, but this is the week we go all out and unite as a school to raise as much as possible.

“The students vote for who they want to support and we are always proud of the choices they make.

“We look forward to the cheque presentation ceremony next month.”

Felpham Community College is a mixed comprehensive secondary school.
