A FELPHAM resident has called for action to keep a playing field tidy.

Karen Feneley said she had collected up to eight carrier bags of rubbish in one walk around King George V Playing Field.

She spoke to some young people at the site to ask them to pick up their litter and drop it in a bin on their way home.

“They are nice kids - it’s not a case of them being horrible - it’s about being thoughtless,” she said. The situation had improved but litter was still there.

Karen said: “It’s good to see the kids out, socialising and enjoying themselves but I just want them to respect the place. I want everyone to do that.”

The nearby Tesco Express has told Arun District Council it will litter pick within 100m of its store to help to improve the situation.
