Crews from Bognor Regis, Chichester and Littlehampton were called to a fire in Wroxham Way, Felpham, at around 6pm.

Firefighters found a ‘developing fire’ in the first floor bedroom at the back of the property, which was an end-of-terrace home.

There were fears that the fire had spread into the roof space.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and extinguished the fire, before ventilating the room affected and the adjoining property.

A spokesman said: “The fire was believed to have been caused by a faulty battery charger.

“Colleagues from the British Red Cross were requested to attend to assist the occupiers.”
