Organiser Colin Porter said: “I had cancer six years ago, so I tried to think how I could help people who live the same situation, and here we are.”

Visitors can admire and buy paintings and artworks in very different styles, from natural landscapes to intriguing and complex works inspired by contemporary art, and 20 per cent of the proceeds will be contributed to CancerWise.

Artist Chris Walsh said: “This exhibition is wonderful. Some artists suffered from cancer, so it is great that they help CancerWise and people who live their same situation.

“A friend of mine had cancer and when they offered me this opportunity, I didn’t think twice. It is great to help these people, and doing through what is most natural for me.”

One of the most fascinating pieces features broken shards of mirror on board, contemporary art by artist Joyce Mathias, entitled Lifecourse.

She explains the impact this piece had on a cancer patient who viewed it: “I can see my person and my life in this.”

The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 4pm until Sunday. For further information, contact CancerWise on 01243 778 516.
