VISITORS to Arun’s parks are being encouraged to vote for their favourite Green Flag site.

A record-breaking 1,424 parks and green spaces this year received a Green Flag Award and people are now being urged to vote for their favourite city park or green space to gain national recognition.

Bognor Regis’ Hotham Park and Aldwick’s Marine Park Gardens both have a Green Flag and are up for the award.

The People’s Choice Award is an annual online vote that lets the public decide which should be the site of the year.

Paul Dendle, Arun’s cabinet member for the environment, encouraged people to get involved.

He said: “Our staff and contractors have worked incredibly hard to retain Green Flag status.

“I will be casting my vote in appreciation of their hard work and encourage all park visitors to do the same.”

To vote, visit, and cast votes on an interactive map. The poll closes at midnight on October 14.

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award scheme manager said: “Our judges have decided on the parks which have reached the high standards of a Green Flag Award but The People’s Choice Award gives the public the chance to decide which park or green space deserves the accolade of the nation’s favourite.”
