A total of 30 new beach huts have been installed along Felpham’s seafront.
Painted in vibrant shades of blue and yellow, the huts are ready for the summer season.
The new huts have been made entirely of composite materials and are specifically designed to resist the harsh marine environment along the Arun coast.
The huts have been budgeted for as part of the council’s capital improvement programme and have replaced the old huts which were in a state of disrepair.
Customers who rented the huts were informed about the replacement huts and assisted the council by emptying their huts in advance of the work.
The beach huts in Arun generate a significant income which contributes towards a balanced budget for the council.
They are very popular with the community and this has resulted in a long waiting list to rent one.
Arun District Council’s cabinet member for technical services, councillor, Stephen Haymes, said: “The new beach huts are the same as those we have installed in Littlehampton and are constructed entirely of composite materials.
“The work was essential as the existing timber beach huts were in very poor condition and required extensive repairs and complete redecoration, which was not financially viable.”
