School will benefit from large donation

PRIME minister David Cameron has endorsed a new fund which involves The Regis School.

United Learning, which runs the school, has launched the initiative after the largest UK donation of £5m to link its independent schools and academies and other independent schools.

It will be used to deliver professional development for teachers and shared experiences for pupils.

Mr Cameron said the partnership could improve the chances for young people.

“Breaking down the divide between state and independent schools is an important goal for the future of our country,” he said.

The donation will launch the United Learning Partnership Fund. Mike Garlick, The Regis School’s principal, said it would be an excellent addition to the school. It could mean more help for students to study for degrees.

“This initiative will offer our staff and students opportunities to do things that otherwise would not be available to us,” he said.
