A STUDENT has swapped his school shoes for walking boots.

Regis School pupil Michael Denton will feature in the CBBC TV series Serious Explorers.

Michael, 15, was one of 7,000 who applied for a place on the team of eight who travelled to Guyana and Tobago in the steps of Sir Walter Raleigh.

Michael said: “I had the most amazing time going on Serious Explorers.

“It was The Regis School who had application forms for the trip and encouraged me to apply.

“I would not have known about it otherwise.

“It was an experience in my life I will never forget and I feel so privileged to have seen and done so many fantastic things.”

Head teacher David Jones said he was delighted Michael had been selected to take part in the adventure.
