Second girl reports that she was followed home from school in Chichester - 'Incidents are not believed to be linked'
Police have increased patrols in Chichester after two schoolgirls reported that they were followed.
Sussex Police revealed on Wednesday (May 12) that officers received a report of a man whistling and following a girl who was on her way home from school in Florence Park, Chichester, shortly before 5pm on Tuesday afternoon.
A police spokesperson has since clarified that officers, who spoke to the girl, established the man was walking his dog at the time and 'did not approach her'.
The girl ran off from the location and was unharmed.
Sussex Police has since revealed details about a second incident, which happened on the same day.
The spokesperson said: "On Wednesday, officers received a report of a girl being followed by two men in a white van in Bishop Luffa Close around 3.45pm on Tuesday.
"The girl went back into the school and the van drove off."
Police said the two incidents are 'not believed to be linked', adding: "We have increased patrols and remind members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour to their school or the police as soon as possible."
