Police are investigating the serious sexual assault of a teenage girl in Chichester.
The 17-year-old victim from Bognor Regis was attacked by two men as she walked through an alley that links Westhampnett Road to Swanfield Drive at around 12.30am on Tuesday 22 February.
Detective Inspector David Payne said: “The victim is being offered continued help and support from specially trained officers following this frightening attack.
“The area has been cordoned off while forensic examinations are carried out and we ask the local people of Chichester for their support while investigations continue into this serious and unusual offence.
“We are keen to talk to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something suspicious.
“If anyone has any information that could assist in this investigation, however insignificant it may seem, they should contact us immediately.”
Inspector Chris Woollerton from the neighbourhood policing team said: “Neighbourhood officers are working closely with the investigating team to help gather information and will be maintaining a highly visible presence in the Westhampnett Road area over the coming days.
“If any member of the community has information then they need to let us know. We will be keeping people informed as the investigation progresses.”
